D.L. Mikhalovskiy is a famous Russian poet and interpreter of the second half of the XIX-th century, who translated into Russian such W.Shakespeare’s plays as “Antony and Cleopatra”, “Julius Caesar”, “Richard II”, “Henry V”, “Romeo and Juliet”», and a famous soliloquy “To be or not to be…” from Shakespearian “Hamlet” at different times. The article amplifies considerably the representation about D.L. Mikhalovskiy as an interpreter of W. Shakespeare through bringing into scientific revolution the materials from the collections of Russian State Archive of Literature and Art, containing unknown earlier fragmentary translations of the first scenes from Shakespeare’s history chronicle “Henry IV”.
