This paper deals with macrosyntactic structures as units of text adaptation. The research is based on the novel “Tess of the d’Urbervilles”. The aim of the research was to analyse the transformation of these structures while adopting the text till level B2-C1. Macrosyntactic structures are seen as a frame of the text composition. Their elements, which influence the plot, are not compressed during adaptation. The results of the research are applied to adapting texts.
