In article various mechanisms formation of image of regions of the Russian Federation are considered. The set of raznourovnevy stereotypes participates in formation of image. Thus, image and a stereotype affects consciousness of the person, forming certain installations and setting a behavioural framework of the personality, a level, ethnos and society. Nevertheless, distinctions between a stereotype and image are quite considerable. Image through conscious structures of mentality involves mechanisms of subconsciousness and unconscious, including the collective unconscious. The reputation operates with the rational facts, proofs, examples and other means of formation of an assessment. By means of image the reputation having much longer influence on receptive and interpreting activity of the subject of perception, than image is created.
