The article dwells upon precedent proper names in “The Dictionary of Cultural Literacy” by E.D. Hirsch. Several groups of proper names are chosen. Among them: anthroponyms (the names of real people), mythonyms (the personages of myths), literary onomastics (the names of literary personages and of works of literature) and chrononyms (the names of certain periods of time). They are all classified and analyzed according to a certain algorithm.
