The purpose of the present article is confirmation of efficiency of web-quest technology application for sociocultural competence formation. The study presents sociocultural competence that is a subject of the research as a complex of sociocultural knowledge about national peculiarities of the foreign language country, abilities to construct verbal and non-verbal behaviour in accordance to the peculiarities and personal qualities that allow to perform successfully the cross-cultural communication. Information and communication technologiy encourage the sociocultural competence formation by means of huge didactic potential. Today the web projects are the popular method of use of Internet in language teaching. The web-quest is a web-project in which the students receive the task to collect the materials on the Internet related to particular subject, to solve a problem by means of these materials. Therefore when the students work at web-projects they plunge into authentic language and cultural space, work in the atmosphere of cooperation, learn to sort out and analyze the obtained information, hold a discussion and keep their standpoint.
