The article explores a relatively new phenomenon in the word-formation of contemporary English - libfixation. Based on the example of the productive prelibfix Franken-, derivational, sociocultural, connotative, ludic and semantic characteristics of libfixation are revealed. The analysis of the stated prelibfix confirms the thesis about the ability of libfixes to easily overcome the boundaries of lexico-semantic groups in the process of forming new lexical items, thus embracing diverse areas of nomination.
