The article is devoted to the key aesthetic criteria of literary works that meet the requirements of artistry imposed by eidetic poetics, in particular, created in accordance with the idea of a “multi-stage” dialogue of modern Russian prose with its own literary traditions of the distant past - the Middle Ages. The paper raises the key problems of the phenomenological specifics of the process of reception of works of modern Russian prose, aesthetically oriented towards the traditions of Russian medieval literature. The essential features of the phenomenon of reading medial discourse texts in general are characterized from the philosophical positions of philosophers and cultural theorists N.A. Berdyaev and I.A. Ilyin.
Key words: modern Russian prose, ancient Russian literary tradition, reading, artistic communication, phenomenology, medieval studies, discourse, medievalism
