About taboo and euphemisms in Russian and Persian languages

This article is devoted to the study of a taboo, unpleasant, tactless, stigmatized concept, phenomenon and action, as well as euphemisms in the Russian and Persian languages. Euphemisms are a softened word and expression used instead of taboo words. The subject of consideration is linguistic methods and various means for creating euphemisms. Language is a social phenomenon, therefore, on the one hand, it represents a worldview and a system of values, as well as a set of norms of a nation, and on the other hand, through language agreements, a language describes the linguistic behavior of its speakers in each period and in various cultural, political and social contexts. Euphemism is one of the forms of behavior and conventions of the language and which means “to speak well”, and in rhetorical terms, euphemism means “to use melodic, pleasant, polite, soft, words and phrases instead of heavy, unpleasant, rude, ugly, harsh, colloquial words and phrases ". The article examines taboo words in Russian and Persian from the point of view of social linguistics. The subject of social linguistics is a vast field that includes language and linguistic issues and their relationship to social problems and, as a branch of linguistics, studies the relationship between language and the social conditions of its existence. Social linguistics examines the impact of society on language and language on soc iety, which in one way or another is associated with cultural and social problems. In this regard, in the field of language and culture, we discuss taboos and euphemisms.
