Tactics of verbal aggression manifestation in the Russian and Chinese political discourse

Verbal aggression in the speech of representatives of a certain linguistic culture is essential to demonstrate great diversity. The variety of its expression generally leads to a plural number of forms of its manifestation. A number of tactics that demonstrate verbal aggression include threat, tough demanding, coarse refusal, hostile remarks, reprimand, mockery, complaint, slander, gossip, disagreement. Considering the interpretation of the concept of speech/verbal aggression, the authors of the work establish the political sphere of its origin, which subsequently spread to other areas of interpersonal interaction. Applying to the examples of public political manifestations in Russian and Chinese a number of ways to implement verbal aggression is analyzed. The present study is based on the speeches of key political leaders - Yang Jiechi, Xi Jinping, V.V. Zhirinovsky. The analysis helps to single out the stylistic aspects of their speeches and to perform a comparative description of both lexical and stylistic means that are used to form verbal aggression. In the course of the study characteristic markers of verbal aggression are identified: verbs with destructive semantics, rude/obscene language, metaphorical insults.
