NATIONAL SPECIFIC FEATURES OF METAPHORIZATION AS A METHOD OF TERMFORMATION (ON THE MATERIAL OF RUSSIAN AND ENGLISH LINGUISTIC TERMINOLOGY)

The article describes the metaphor as a cognitive mechanism, the features of metaphorization as one of the methods for term formation in line with the cognitive approach in the terminological systems study, investigates the sources and means of replenishing this semantic method of term formation in Russian and English linguistics, features of expression plans and content, the formation of semantic loan translation from Greek, Latin and modern European languages, the analysis of metaphorical hyphens in the formation of linguistic terms in the Russian and English. The article justifies the role of metaphorization as one of the most important sources of linguistics terminology replenishment with new terms. The purpose of the article is to describe the general patterns of forming and functioning of Russian and English metaphorical terms. It seems that metaphorical terms allow linguists to nominate new linguistic phenomena, to record the essential characteristics of research subjects, and also to reveal the national characteristics of scientific knowledge.
