This article is devoted to the analysis of linguosemiotic forms of modern English. The modern linguistic science is guided by anthropocentric vector of research, in which the language is considered as an anthropological phenomenon. This approach led to the formation of related areas of scientific research, one of which is linguosemiotics, whose task is to establish the nature of linguistic forms as one of the important part of the culture and history of a certain linguocultural community. This article presents the results of a linguosemiotic study of the basic forms of the language existence, which include the standard language and the territorial dialects. Systematization of researchers` approaches allowed to establish that standard language is understood as a normative, codified form of the national language existence. The territorial dialect is understood as a regional version of the standard language, which acquired its unique features, expressed at the linguistic level, because of historical development. The article provides a brief description of linguistic features of the most popular and widespread English dialects in modern Britain - Cockney dialect, West Country dialect, Brummy Birmingham dialect, Cornish dialect, Lancashire dialect, Norfolk County dialect. The conclusion about the historical conditionality of the literary language development and dialects is supported by examples of linguistic characteristics of dialects.
