The purpose of this article is to identify the characteristic features of the image of “Caucasian prisoner” as a man of the frontier. The paper shows its main characteristics and their conformity frontline personality types. The analysis is done on the basis of studying two types of sources - narrative memoirs and fiction of the ХIХ century. Analyzed the living conditions in captivity, transgressive processes with captive identity, determine the nature of intercultural communication.
