One of the most interesting motifs of Russian writers works is examinated in this article – capture and captivity (based on «Caucasian prisoner» of A. Pushkin, M. Lermontov, L. Tolstoy and «Caucasian capture» of V. Makanin). Historically we can observe the modification of this motif from romanticism to realism. In this transformation readers can see all modifications of these motifs on different levels of text.
