In the article the author considers imaginative and perceptual characteristics of the linguistic cultural character type “American pioneer”, which are structured in the passport of the character type. The article deals with the peculiar nature of the character type “pioneer” as a concept which has a dual structure in American linguistic consciousness. The correlation of its historical and modern meanings as elements of one integral mental formation is analyzed.
