The author analyzes compositional and narrative features of Leo Rubinstein's memoir "The whole year. My calendar." The author focuses in the "symphonics" of many voices. The analysis of many voices interaction reveals a complex attitude towards the past: from a sentimental lyrical attempt to recreate the details of the past to an ironic and sarcastic understanding of childhood and juvenility against the backdrop of a "big" history. The article concludes that Rubinstein’s book narrative strategy reconstructs interaction dynamics between era’s different languages and collective experience of history relive.
