This article is devoted to the correlation of Oriental and Slavic motives in the works by K.M. Fofanov using an example of the literary work “Iz fantaziy”. The appeal of the poet of the 19century to the mythopoetic universal - the mythologeme “Island” - and also to the East Slavic fairytale tradition are considered in the paper. Much attention is given to the study of oriental images. K.M. Fofanov expresses the emotional-sensory perception of the East through the use of these images.
