This article is devoted to translating dialectisms in fiction into Russian. The aim of our work is to analyze and consider the ways of translating dialectal units in a passage by A. Camilleri Il ladro di merendine (1996) in Russian. The research tasks: to determine the dialect from the point of view of modern linguistics; describe the concept of dialecticism in fiction; consider an algorithm for analyzing dialectisms in a work of art for their further translation into Russian; analyze the available translation of the piece by A.Kamilleri Il ladro di merendine from Italian into Russian. In the course of the study, we conclude that the dialect is an independent linguistic system that has its own phonetic, grammatical, lexical features, history of development and a literary tradition different from the national language and not used in the official speech. Dialecticisms are the word-forming, morphological, syntactic, semantic and other features reflected in the artistic text inherent in the Sicilian dialect, translated into Italian. Based on the works of S. Florin and S. Vlahov, we presented an algorithm for analyzing dialectisms in a work of art for their further translation into Russian, thanks to which we analyzed a fragment of detective A. Camilleri "Il ladro di merendine" and his available translation in Russian. During the analysis of the fragment of the original work, we have identified phonetic, lexical, grammatical, syntactic dialectisms belonging to the Sicilian dialect. These dialectisms carry out two functions in the work: to create a Sicilian color and the authenticity of the characters' images of the work.
