In the article on the material of the Ingush language homonymy is considered as a universal language category. The main types of homonyms are considered through the analysis of systemic relations of word-homonyms, since it is the systemic connections of the word that give the most complete picture of its semantic originality. The author focuses on identifying the main types of homonyms of the Ingush language and determining objective criteria for distinguishing homonymy and polysemy.
