The article is devoted to the issue of the ways to control the formation of perceptive reading skills in mastering a foreign language by primary school pupils. In the article the importance of the problem is proved. The perceptive reading skills are pointed out in correlation with mechanisms of this type of speech activity and there are given the examples of exercises to effectively control the development of these skills.
