In article the typology of models of state and confessional policy is built. At the basis this typology lies two global megamodels – clerical where the ideology of a certain faith becomes state , and the state – theocratic, and secular, including all a variety of options of relationship of religion and the power is built: the separation model constructed on the principle of a universalizm, the cooperation and identification models which are based on the principle of a diferrentsializm. World experience has undoubted impact of these models on modern Russian state and confessional policy which, however, owing to historical traditions and modern political realities legally is in a framework of separation model, and politically – within cooperation model taking into account inclusion attempts in the legislation of point on religions traditional for Russia.
