This article is devoted to A.Ch. Swinburne’s works in the perception and analysis of the Russian literary criticism of the first third of the xx century who had estimated his poetry through the works of West European literary critics. Research is under construction on materials of various publications of the beginning of the XX century in Russia about Swinburne’s poetry. The fullest review of his literary works has been done by a scientist and a philosopher N.A. Vasilyev. The tendency to one-linear perception of the poet to acceptance of his democratic views of the mature period and to condemnation of late Swinburne as a conservative and monarchist was outlined in the publications of the 1920s–1930s.
