COURSE AND ITS FUNCTIONS AS FORMAL-PRINTING IN THE MODERN FRENCH ROMAN

In modern French fiction, you can see a diverse selection of text segments - a space, italics, boldface, etc. This suggests that the authors want to draw the attention of the reader, to focus on this Рѕr that segment, putting a certain meaning in such marking. The use of formal typographic means in general is dictated by the author's intention to actualize, emphasize, highlight a particular segment of the text, to add to the text additional shades of meaning that contribute to a more complete understanding of the meaning of the text. The article considers such a formal typographic tool as italics, defines its functions in the modern French novel, reveals certain trends.
