The article deals with the dramatic work of Eugene Schwartz. Plays constitute an integral and very important part of the artistic heritage of E. Schwartz. Observation E. Schwartz, allowed him to notice in people funny and awkward, looking at human characters and weaknesses, he saw in them something more than curious psychological particulars. Above each of them it was possible first of all to laugh. But most of all the playwright was attracted by the patterns of everyday human life, which concealed all the errors and mistakes of people caught in ridiculous situations. In the texts of E. Schwartz's plays, two plans are clearly distinguished: the fairy tale plan and the reality plan. They interact, interpenetrate, create images that have attributes of both plans, which is one of the main and characteristic sources of comic sources for all plays.
