ENGLISHNESS IN MULTICULTURAL CONTEXT OF THE GRAHAM SWIFT’S STORYBOOK “LEARNING TO SWIM”

The article deals with a representation of Englishness in multicultural context of the modern British writer Graham Swift’s storybook “Learning to swim”. A phenomenon of Englishness is reviewed in light of opposition “own - alien”. Also an overcoming and decoding of Victorian cultural stereotype in the works of the writer are pointed out.
