TO THE QUESTION OF CHRISTOPHER MARLOWE’S CREATIVE WORK UNDERSTANDING IN RUSSIA IN THE LAST THIRD OF THE XIX-TH CENTURY

The article systematizes facts of Christopher Marlowe’s creative work understanding in the works of the Russian literature researchers and literary critics in the last third of the XIX century, in particular, Alexander N. Veselovskiy, Alexey N. Veselovskiy, A.M. Skabichevskiy, P.I. Veinberg and others. It is noted that in the majority of these materials Marlowe and his literary works are mentioned in the context of border issues understanding, specifically, originality of theatre life in medieval Europe, transformation of some motives and images in the creative work of different writers, etc. At the same time during these years in the press there appeared articles (mostly compilations and translations) which characterized Marlowe’s creative work actually, especially, his “Tragical Story of Doctor Faustus”.
