The article deals with the problems of poetic translation. The author compares the Russian accentual and the French syllabic systems of poetry, the peculiarities of the poetic organization of the text associated with the language parameters. The analysis concerns the language complexity of the translation of Russian poetry into French language, expressed phonetically. These include differences in the forms of rhymes (masculine, feminine, dactylic), in the metric design of the verse (two-syllable and three-syllable metres), in the alternation of accentual and unstressed syllables in the poetic line, which is reflected in the difficulties of transferring the rhythmic design. The content side of the poems presents its problems in translation, as the poems for children use elements of the "child" language, specific methods of word formation, specific concepts. As an example, the translations of several poems by A. Barto and children's songs into French are given. The texts of the poems are analyzed from the point of view of sound and contents organization and the corresponding translation problems and the possibility of their transmission by means of another language.
