EDUCATIONAL FUNCTION ORTHODOX AND ORTHODOX-ORIENTED PRESS OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA OF THE FIRST HALF OF 20 CENTUTRY

In the article analysis of educational activity, carried out by Orthodox and Orthodox-oriented seal of the United States of America during its inception, formation and active development. Identifies the objectives and functions of the detachment of the press are fully in line with the functions performed by the Russian Orthodox Church both in relation to society in General and in relation to the local community of Russian immigrants of the period of the first half of the 20th century. Russian newspapers dedicated their emigration published changing the status of women in society, the optimization of family relations, education of the young generation in the Orthodox tradition, the correction of the employment behavior and others. Concludes that while executing each function playing in society educational role, Russian seal was an effective conduit of ideas, and aide to the Russian Orthodox Church, that community of emigrants from a number of serious internal conflicts, paid unceasing attention to living conditions in foreign countries. The results of this issue can be used for studying of the history and practice of Russian Г©migrГ© press and the history of Russian Orthodox Church.
