This study attempts to review the activation of cognitive activity of younger students in the classroom readings through the creation of problem situations. In the psychological structure of the problem situation by the authors included the following components: mode of action, cognitive demand, propels human intellectual activity and intellectual abilities of a person, including his creative abilities and past experience. It is noted that the essence of cognitive tasks as a way of enhancing educational-cognitive activity of students is the selection of system problems and systematic management of the progress of their decisions. The most effective means of developing cognitive activity is a combination of artistic, creative and communicative activity.
