The article considers the problem of development of the creative personality of the younger students in the classroom readings. It is noted that when defining the tasks of reading as a process currently largely emphasizes not only its practical importance, but also the potential of reading fiction for aesthetic development. The authors formulated the principles of creative reading, based on the psychological characteristics of young children, the characteristics of aesthetic perception of the child, on the one hand, and the specificity of the artistic image of a children's book with the other. The selected levels of development of creative abilities of pupils.
